Hello everyone
This is Yukihiro Furukawa, the representative of the International Fugu Association. - My family has been handling Fugu (Japanese Pufferfish) for generations and I grew up learning all about Fugu and that it is an auspicious fish that brings happiness.
- The numbers of wild-caught puffer fish fell since the Heisei period, and it has since became the age of fish farming. During the economic bubble period, Fugu was traded at a high price and farmers had also increased, but as the baby-boom generation, who was the first fan group, with the times retired and the population will also be declining in the future, my urge to maintain the Japanese ancient food culture of Fugu became stronger.
- Meanwhile, Fugu inhabit worldwide, accidents caused by food poisoning occurred, and Fugu is prohibited in most countries. However, many visitors to Japan who tasted Fugu are touched by its tastiness and became the fans of Fugu.
- Fugu has been eaten from Jomon period in Japan, which hold the highest skilled in detoxification techniques and has the richest varieties of food in the world. Therefore, I strongly believe that safe and delicious Japanese Fugu is accepted by the world's wealthy people.
- Thus, we decided to make "Japanese 'FUGU' is safe and tasty!" as the keywords when establish this association with the purpose of spreading Japanese Fugu dishes to the world.
